Our Relationship to Place
Our practice is based in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ / Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As settlers and guests on stolen Indigenous land, we recognize the Indigenous roots of many conflict resolution and restorative practices, and our ongoing responsibility to learn from and honour Indigenous knowledge, law, and relationships.
Coast Conflict mediators are on Mediate BC's roster and are bound by professional standards of conduct and continuing professional development requirements.

Mediation 101
Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process where a neutral third party (the mediator) helps people navigate difficult conversations, better understand one another’s perspectives, and explore possible ways forward together. Rather than deciding the outcome, the mediator supports the conversation and process.A mediator doesn’t determine who is “right” or “wrong.” Instead, mediation focuses on understanding concerns and needs, and exploring practical paths forward.
Why Mediation?
Mediation can help to:
improve communication
clarify misunderstandings
identify the real issues beneath the conflict
better understand each other’s needs and concerns
explore creative and flexible solutions
preserve or repair relationships where possible
reach resolution more quickly and cost-effectively than formal legal processes
